Michal holds a PhD in Computational Biology from the Weizmann Institute of Science and an MBA from INSEAD (France/Singapore). At the early stages of her carrier she held research and development positions in industry (Compugen) and academia (Weizmann Institute, Bioinformatics Unit). After completing her MBA, she transitioned to business oriented roles working at both the start-up and the investor end. In her last corporate position, Michal was responsible for New Venture Development at Ormat, a global leader in Renewable Energy, where she sourced and assessed early stage technologies for investment or for incorporation as a new line of business. She led a $2M investment in a company developing a technology for enhanced power output (up to 25% more energy) from photo-voltaic installations. She was also company representative for the investment committee of ‘Capital Nature’, an OCS incubator which Ormat co-founded. She has since worked with private investors, scouting and assessing technologies in a variety of fields including Cleantech, Biomed and Digital Health. Michal is passionate about using technology to solve real world problems and has a growing interest in Digital Health and its potential to disrupt traditional health care practices.
